Key insights
- Indonesia holds the first and second ranked small and medium workplaces in all of Asia.
- Sixteen of Indonesia’s 19 companies returned from last year, the highest retention in Southeast Asia.
- Thirteen of the 19 rank inside Asia’s top 25, the highest share of any country on the list.
Indonesia placed 19 companies on the Best Workplaces in Asia 2026 list, tenth across Asia by company count. The headline sits in the small and medium category, where Indonesia holds both of the two highest-ranked workplaces on the continent.
Atomy ranks first in Asia and PT. URC Indonesia ranks second. No other country has more than one company in that top three.
The other notable thing about Indonesia’s result is how little of it moved.
How many Indonesian companies made Best Workplaces in Asia 2026?
Nineteen. Sixteen sit in the large category, meaning 500 or more employees across Asia, and three in the small and medium category, covering 50 to 499.
The list names 200 companies in total, 100 in each size group. Indonesia ranks tenth across the whole of Asia and fourth in Southeast Asia.
| Market | Companies | Inside Asia’s top 25 |
|---|---|---|
| Indonesia | 19 | 13 (68%) |
| Malaysia | 15 | 10 (67%) |
| Thailand | 18 | 11 (61%) |
| Singapore | 25 | 12 (48%) |
| Vietnam | 24 | 9 (38%) |
| Philippines | 20 | 7 (35%) |
Which small Indonesian companies ranked highest in Asia?
Atomy took first place among small and medium workplaces across Asia, up from third last year. PT. URC Indonesia took second, climbing nine places from eleventh. Eterna Indonesia sits at 46th after the second largest climb by any Southeast Asian company this year.
| Company | Industry | 2025 | 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Atomy | Retail | 3rd | 1st |
| PT. URC Indonesia | Manufacturing | 11th | 2nd |
| Eterna Indonesia | Other | 94th | 46th |
Three companies is a small sample. Two of them finishing first and second in Asia is not something a small sample explains away.
Why did Indonesia’s list barely change?
Sixteen of Indonesia’s nineteen companies were on the 2025 list too. At 84%, that is the highest retention rate of any Southeast Asian market, and it sits a long way above Vietnam, where 54% returned.
Only three companies are new: Allianz at 25th, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison at 80th and state electricity utility PT PLN (Persero) at 97th.
Stability of that kind reads two ways. It shows a set of employers holding their standard year after year, and it shows a national list that is harder for a newcomer to break into than any other in the region.
What does this mean in the Indonesian market?
Indonesia has one of the youngest workforces in Asia. Gen Z makes up roughly 28% of the population, about 75 million people, and close to 10 million of them were classified as not in education, employment or training as of 2023.
Absorbing that cohort is the country’s central economic question, and it makes the quality of the jobs that do exist unusually consequential. A workforce this size does not need more roles alone. It needs roles people stay in long enough to build something on.
Which is what makes the shape of Indonesia’s list interesting. Manufacturing, retail, hospitality and utilities sit alongside the technology and professional services names, and PT. URC Indonesia at second in Asia is a food and beverage manufacturer rather than a software firm.
Which Indonesian companies climbed in 2026?
Schneider Electric climbed 62 places in Asia, from 78th to 16th. Great Place To Work’s year-on-year data shows that is the largest gain by any company appearing on a Southeast Asian list this year, with Eterna Indonesia’s 48-place climb the second largest.
| Company | 2025 | 2026 | Places gained |
|---|---|---|---|
| Schneider Electric | 78 | 16 | 62 |
| Eterna Indonesia | 94 | 46 | 48 |
| TP | 24 | 8 | 16 |
| PT. URC Indonesia | 11 | 2 | 9 |
| Atomy | 3 | 1 | 2 |
| Cisco | 5 | 3 | 2 |
Hilton held first place in Asia for a second consecutive year, with Marriott International second and Cisco third. All three appear on Indonesia’s list.
What does Best Workplaces in Asia 2026 measure?
Employees answer 60 statements on a five-point scale and two open questions. The statements cover whether leaders are reachable and honest, whether pay and promotion are fair, and whether the work feels worth doing.
Consistency is what separates the list from a satisfaction score. Great Place To Work measures how far responses differ inside a single company, so a business where head office is thriving and the production line has given up ranks below one holding steady across every team.
The order is set by the people who work there. Placement comes from survey responses and nothing else.
Now in its twelfth year, the Asia list is part of a global program publishing Best Workplaces lists in more than 60 countries, backed by 30 years of research and benchmarking data representing more than 100 million employees worldwide.
